Christmas Trees

Putting a tree up? Mine stood with confidence before Thanksgiving as my 3-year old daughter kept asking me when I'm going to put the lights on. I love feeding my daughter's imagination. After taking her to a local library for story time, which was about trains. We came home and pretended that our apartment was one of the cabins. It was magical. Then, it all ended when she said 'we don't live in a train, this is an apartment'. Is your calendar filled with fun Christmas activities? Whatever they maybe have fun! Here are pictures I took yesterday at the Festival of Trees in Manhattan, KS.

Mediterranean Sisig

Do you remember the Sizzling Sisig post? Click here if you want to know what Sisig is. Well I've got another version of this famous Filipino dish. It's one of those random creations I came up with. Last night, Grant cooked Adobo using pork chops. And, we had so much leftover. Adobo is always good leftover  but then I started thinking about Sisig. So here's what I came up with....

Mediterranean Sisig

Leftover (3 large porkchop) Pork Adobo, shredded

1 Large Onion, chopped

2 Tbsp Olive oil

2 Tbsp Kalamata Olives, chopped

2 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar

Pepper to taste

In a skillet drizzle 1 Tbsp of Olive oil. Add the shredded Pork Adobo. Pan-fry meat until the desired crispness is achieved. Take it out from the pan. On a chopping board, transfer over the meat and coarsley chop it. In a bowl combine meat, onions, oil, olives, vinegar and pepper. Mix thoroughly. Serve over rice or in a wrap. Yum! Ooops wait, yes I didn't forget about salt. There's no salt on the recipe because the olives will give this Sisig that Mediterranean flavor. Don't you like plain stuff? You can modify and put so much flavor into things? The sky is truly the limit. I hope you can come up with a new dish using familiar recipes.

Beautiful Things

Who doesn't appreciate beauty right? The beauty of nature, the beauty of a newborn baby, the beauty of a rising sun, the beauty of an old photograph. I guess it's up to you how to appreciate the beauty that surrounds you. I love beautiful things and makes me happy. Beauty inspires me.  Here are some of the things that I find beautiful this week.

Color Blending or Color Matching? What do you prefer?

These are my daughter's beautiful feet. I love jelly shoes. She has 2 pairs, one black and one white. The strap on both pairs broke so I had to think of  a solution where she can still wear them without them coming off her feet. I used leftover ribbons as new straps. and I have many. :) So, Voila! She can still wear them.

And meet the beautiful Daphne. She's one of the many women I admire right now. Her style is classic and one of a kind. And, I love how she talked about different textures here. Oh so beautiful!

I really don't understand having a grand wedding dress then it immediately goes to the closet after the wedding. If I get a chance to have a wedding ceremony I would wear something like this. I'd definitely wear it on other special occassions.

Here's something to ponder...."If beauty comes from within why can't it be reflected on the outside too? You are beautiful inside and out"

Shoes on the Rocks with Salt

When you find comfortable high-heeled shoes. You wanna wear them over and over again. And, that's what I've been doing. I just dress them by clipping shoe clips from Clipits Designs. I love my T-strap jade shoes.

Clipits' shoe clips made with chiffon fabric. The fun embellishments on the center were from a pair of dangling earrings, which I got from a craft show from a lady who sold vintage jewelries.

Fallin' in Love with Fall

I'm really not that hard to please. I just can't help to take pictures. Everytime I see a tree, no matter how many leaves are on it, that makes me happy already. So here are the snapshots I'd like to share with you today. Note: these were taken via my iPhone, I forgot to bring my regular camera. I thought they turned out good.
