Pork Adobo

Adobo is a very well-known dish in the Philippines. Its basic ingredients are soy sauce, vinegar, garlic and pepper. This liquid base can be used to braise chicken, pork, beef, seafood and even vegetables. It's a very tasty dish. Like any dish out there Adobo is prepared in so many variation.

This dish is very easy to make. Thanks to watching too much Food Network I came up with another way of making it.

Pork Adobo

2 lbs. Pork Loin
1/2 C All Purpose Flour
1/2 tsp. Salt

1/2 tsp. Fresh Cracked Pepper
2 tsp. Garlic Powder
2 Tbsp Canola Oil

1/2 C Soy Sauce
1/4 C Apple Cider Vinegar
1/4 C Water
2 Tbsp Simple Syrup
2-3 medium Bay Leaves
1 Bulb Garlic, peeled. do not smash
2 tsp whole pepper corn or more if preferred

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Pre-heat a skillet. Cut pork in cubes, strips or whatever shape you want it to be. In a small bowl, combine dry ingredients, flour, garlic powder, salt & pepper. Dredge the pork with flour and sear meat. When meat is all golden brown, pour in liquid ingredients and add peeled garlic cloves (do not smash), bay leaves, pepper corn. Stir mixture and place in the oven. Cook for 1-1.5 hrs. When cooked, you will notice that the sauce is thick that's because of the flour use for dredging the meat. Serve with or over steamed rice.
