Seon's Korean Pork

Last night's dinner was an impromptu dish. I honestly didn't have the desire to cook but my hungry stomach always pushes me to do so anyway.

Using ingredients I have on hand I was able to make a Korean dish that my friend Seon taught me to make. One of the favorite part of meeting someone is getting to know them by the food they eat, like and then share it with them. I still exchange emails and texts with her but I'm glad she taught me this. It's deliciously sweet, savory and flavorful!

Ingredients:

3/4 pound Pork Loin, thinly sliced
1/4 C Marca Pina Soy Sauce
1/4 C Simple Syrup
2 tsps Apple Cider Vinegar
1 T Hot Pepper Powder, Coarse
1 t Onion Powder
1 t garlic powder
1 tsp flour
A dash of Sesame Oil
2 T Canola Oil, for pan frying

1 Medium Carrot, julienne
Green Onions, Cut same length as carrots
Green Bell Pepper (optional)

Hot pepper coarse powder (this may look spicy but it actually isn't or so I noticed)
(you can find this at your local Asian grocery store)

The recipe doesn't call for any soy sauce but the stubborn cook in me says, "go ahead use some soy sauce". Soy sauce gives it the savory flavor you'll enjoy without having the dish tasting to be salty. Plus it gives your meat a beautiful color.

Cooking Instruction:
1. In a mixing bowl, combine all ingredients except pork.
2. Mix together. Taste mixture. Adjust flavor as needed.
3. Add Pork. Marinade for 3 hrs or overnight. (I cooked mine right then and it tasted very flavorful because the meat is thinly cut. You can also further tenderize the meat by using a fork)
4. Preheat oiled skillet, pan fry meat. Pan fry in batches. Try not to over crowd meat in pan as it will take a while to cook and achieve a beautiful color. I fried mine in two batches. At the last batch add in carrots, green onions and bell pepper.
5. This feeds a family of three.

***This recipe was tweaked in a way a child could eat it.
